How old do you have to be to get recruited?
Players are not allowed to be sent personal correspondence (i.e. letters and emails) until Sept 1 of their junior year in high school. So a coach can't write to them specifically until this point, however can send them questionnaires, camp brochures, and institutional information available to all at any time.
July 1 after a player’s junior year is the trigger date for when coaches can call prospects. Players can call coaches whenever they want on their own, but a coach can't return a call. A coach can't return an email before Sept 1 of their junior year, other than to say "I can't email you until Sept 1 of your junior year"
Lastly, it may be good to point out that college coaches cannot communicate with them electronically at all.....only exception is after they've signed an NLI (National Letter of Intent). This means they cannot text message, facebook, instant message, or publicly chat with them through twitter or any other blog or microblog.
How do I get recruited?
Be proactive! Email coaches and let them know that you are interested in finding out more about their program. As stated earlier, coaches might be limited on the interaction that they have with you, but they can help lead you in the right direction.
How many videos can I upload?
Three videos come with the initial package, but additional can be purchased.
How do I get information to college coaches?
Email is the best way to get in touch with College coaches. There are restrictions on when and how frequently contact can be made between college coaches and potential players.
What do college coaches want to see on a video?
Initially, coaches want to see concise footage of basic mechanics. Once that has been established certain coaches may want specific game film.
How often should I update my profile information?
With-in reason, anytime pertinent information changes your profile should be updated. (Contact info, Act score, GPA)
What if I lose my password?
Click on the 'Showcase Log In' button in upper right hand corner and select the 'Request new password' tab. Fill in your e-mail address and submit. You will be sent an email with a one-time login link. Click on the supplied link. You must then click on 'My Account' and select 'Edit' to update you password.
If you have any problems at any time, you can contact the Varsity Shop Management to update your password.
Are there restrictions on contact with college coaches?
Yes. Dates may change from year to year but each contact period has its own rules.
